REGISTERED BEHAVIORAL TECHNICIAN (RBT)
Scoot is thrilled to offer roles in Special Education!
Scoot Education places educators in long-term and short-term roles in Special Education settings, including Paraprofessional, Behavior Interventionist (BII), and Registered Behavioral Technician (amongst others).
These roles entail working in small groups or 1:1 settings with students with special needs. The needs of this student population can range from “mild/moderate” to “moderate/severe” (also known as Extensive Support Needs). Special Education is a large umbrella that captures intellectual, cognitive, physical, emotional and behavioral disabilities.
For some roles in these categories, school partners require additional training. In most cases, Scoot can provide this training. Time spent in Scoot-provided training is paid to the educator and is a great way to accelerate your career.
In all cases, Scoot Consultants will inform Scoot Educators on the details, requirements, and demands of the role. Should the assigned duties differ or if a Scoot Educator be asked to perform tasks outside of what was originally described to them, the Educator is responsible for contacting their Consultant immediately.

EDUCATION and CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT) who are working within RBT placements must maintain a valid and active RBT Certification as authorized by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). The cost of maintaining an RBT certification is the responsibility of the Educator. Scoot Education may support in providing BCBA supervision, although this is not guaranteed.
- Education requirements differ by location and position and will be communicated by your Scoot Consultant.
Supervision Policies:
- Scoot coordinates supervision for Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) who are placed in long-term RBT assignments. The supervision is provided by either a Scoot BCBA or a school partner BCBA.
- Scoot does not provide supervision for Registered Behavior Technicians working in day-to-day assignments even if they are substituting in RBT roles (At the discretion of the BCBA Coordinator).
- Scoot does not coordinate BCBA supervision for Registered Behavior Technicians working in non-RBT long-term assignments (ex: paraprofessional). These roles do not require such supervision to be compliant.
- Educators working in non-RBT assignments or those working infrequently may choose maintain their RBT license on their own or go voluntarily inactive with the BACB.
Professional Development Unit Policies:
- Scoot Educators working in long-term Registered Behavior Technician assignments must maintain their RBT license, including completion of the requisite Professional Development Units (PDU).
- Scoot can provide some support and guidance regarding PDUs, but that support is contingent on being in a long-term RBT assignment. Ultimately the completion of the PDUs is the responsibility of the RBT.
