You will be eligible to accrue and use sick leave in accordance with applicable New Jersey and local laws. Generally, this means that you will accrue one hour of sick leave for every 30 hours you work, up to a cap of 40 hours per year. You may use these accrued hours in any 12-month period. Employees are eligible to begin using sick leave after being employed by the company for at least 120 days.

Under New Jersey law, paid sick leave can be used for the following purposes:

  1. Absences requiring medical care or addressing mental or physical illness, injury, or health conditions;
  2. A public health emergency, including closures of schools or workplaces by order of a public official due to a public health concern;
  3. Absences related to domestic violence, sexual violence, abuse, or stalking, including time needed to obtain medical attention, victim services, relocation, or legal services;
  4. Caring for a family member’s mental or physical illness, injury, or health condition, or providing care during a public health emergency; or
  5. Attending a child’s school-related meeting, conference, or event due to a health issue or other specified need.

To use sick leave, you must be scheduled to work an assignment and provide advance notice to Scoot as early as possible, notifying them that you are unable to complete the scheduled assignment and wish to use your accrued sick leave. This request can be made orally, in writing, or by email. Please contact your Scoot Consultant to learn the number of sick leave hours you’ve accrued.

You may use one to eight hours of sick leave per day, depending on your scheduled work hours and accrued leave balance.
