ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- All substitutes are expected to be prompt and reliable, appropriately dressed, groomed, and follow and adhere to Scoot policies and guidelines.
- Teach contents and skills in assigned content area(s).
- Implement lesson plans.
- Comply with verbal and written directions and establish effective working relationships with staff and students.
- Communicate materials to students in a confident and clear manner and otherwise ensure students’ optimal learning.
- Maintain effective classroom management strategies.
- Foster a safe and positive learning environment in accordance with School, State, County, and other applicable policies.
- Manage student behavior effectively and consistently, providing appropriate disciplinary measures as needed and according to School policies.
- Maintain and comply with confidentiality of student and School personnel information.
- Ensure adequate supervision to assure the health, welfare, and safety of all students.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Respond appropriately in the event of an emergency, ensuring that students follow School safety guidelines.
- Understand and comply with all State Mandated Reporter obligations.
- Report to School main office on arrival; check mailbox of absent teacher for materials requiring immediate attention; request clarification of School rules and procedures, if necessary.
- Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as practicable.
- Properly dismiss all students from the classroom before leaving the building.
- Complete Substitute Teacher Report Form for absent teacher.
- Return instructional materials, equipment, and keys to the proper place.
- Determine if services will be required for the next school day before leaving the School.
